Joshua Tree is a huge (nearly 800,000 square feet) national park that offers a variety of fun activities year round. Located just seven miles from the Holiday Inn Express Twentynine Palms, Joshua Tree is a must-see attraction for visitors to this area. The park itself is home to some of the most distinct geologic displays in California with rugged mountains, twisted rock formations, and exposed granite monoliths dotting the desert landscape. Known for it’s dramatic and natural beauty, Joshua Tree has served as an inspiration for countless artists, musicians, writers, and poets. The park itself consists of two deserts – the high desert and the low desert, resulting in two ecosystems.

Camping

Spend the night gazing up at the stars and enjoy some of the darkest skies in Southern California. Joshua Tree offers nine different campgrounds with about 500 developed campsites perfect for solo travelers, families, and large groups.

Hiking

From short nature trails to long, strenuous hikes, Joshua Tree offers something for all skill levels. Popular day hikes range from three to seven miles and reach up to nearly 5,500 feet in elevation.

Rock Climbing

With more than 400 climbing formations and 8,000 climbing routes, Joshua Tree is one of the most popular places for rock climbing enthusiasts. Famous for its traditional-style crack, slab, and steep-face climbing, Joshua Tree attracts climbers from all over the world.

Mountain Biking

Approximately 29 miles of trails have been made for non-motorized bike use. There are also many backcountry roads that are available open for biking.
